The quiz covers independent countries. Vatican City is a sovereign state (0.44 km²); Gibraltar, Monaco-sized territories and city districts belong to larger countries, so they don’t qualify.
Are these all in Europe?
No — that’s part of the fun. Europe supplies the famous microstates, but several of the ten are Pacific and Caribbean island nations that far fewer players can name.
