About this Construction word search
Cranes, diggers, dump trucks and hard hats — our construction memory game is a huge hit with vehicle-loving toddlers. Match the machines and build your memory one pair at a time.
This puzzle hides 12 vehicle words in a 13×13 grid. Words run in every direction — across, down, diagonally, and backwards — so look carefully. Tap a word's first and last letter to lock it in, or hit Print puzzle for a clean paper copy.

Hunting tip: don't search letter by letter. Pick a word — try DUMPTRUCK — and scan only for its first letter, checking each hit in both directions. Systematic beats fast: the diagonal-backwards words are found by method, never by luck.
How to memorise a vehicle board
Build a traffic story. Line the vehicles up as if in a jam and give each a reason to be there — the fire engine first because of the smoke, the bus behind it because everyone stopped to watch. A one-sentence chain that links every card in order survives the memory test far better than twelve separate glances.
Sort by where they operate: sky, road, track, water, sand. Vehicles are a naturally classifiable deck, and classification is half of recall — when the ambulance goes missing, "emergency vehicles, road" is a much smaller haystack than the whole board.
Vehicles deck questions
Are vehicle memory games good for kids who love cars?
They are the single easiest sell in the whole site for vehicle-mad children — the motivation is already there. Use the hard board to keep it challenging; enthusiasm usually outruns the extra pairs.
What strategy works for the big boards?
Sweep in rows like reading a page, and park each vehicle in its zone as you go. The discipline matters more on 12-pair boards than the mnemonic tricks.
