How to play

  1. Press Start. Each question offers four answers — only one is right.
  2. Correct picks turn green; wrong ones reveal the right choice, often with a bonus fact.
  3. Answer all 18 questions to get your score — then try to beat your best.

Eighteen clubs, and one that keeps winning

The Bundesliga runs with eighteen clubs rather than twenty, so thirty-four matches instead of thirty-eight. Two go down automatically and the sixteenth-placed side plays a two-legged relegation play-off against the third-placed team in 2. Bundesliga — a genuine jeopardy fixture that the English system does not have.

Its title record is the most concentrated in major European football. Bayern Munich's run of consecutive championships through the 2010s and into the 2020s is the longest such streak in any of Europe's top five leagues, and it is the direct reason this quiz had to draw its wrong answers from a wider pool of clubs: there simply are not enough different champions in the range to fill four options.

The 50+1 rule

German clubs operate under a rule requiring members to hold a majority of voting rights, which limits outside investors from taking control. It is the clearest structural difference between the Bundesliga and the Premier League, and it is commonly cited in explaining German football's low ticket prices and high average attendances — the Bundesliga regularly records the highest average crowds of any football league in the world.
