Study tip: give the first three tiles — mermaid, merman and shell — fixed positions in your head ("top-left", "middle", "bottom-right"). Sequence memory is about position as much as pictures.
How to memorise a fantasy board
Fantasy decks want a quest. Cast the board as a story: the dragon guards the crown, the wizard brews the potion, the knight carries the sword. Link each item to the next one until you have a six-beat plot — stories are the oldest memory technology precisely because a chain of causes is easier to hold than a list of objects.
Exploit the archetypes. Fantasy items come in pairs of rivals and partners — sword and shield, wizard and potion, dragon and treasure. Memorise the partnerships instead of the individual cards and half your recall work is done before the board hides.
