New Year's Eve with children is a strange puzzle: everyone wants to stay up, but the last two hours before midnight are a desert. Quick memory rounds fit the format perfectly — one a day is too slow, so play a best-of-everyone tournament at half ten, fireworks deck last.
And for the resolution crowd, a daily memory game is the smallest possible new habit: two minutes, measurable (your best score is saved), and it works just as well on the commute in January as it did on the sofa in December.
Hard mode, twelve pairs, five minutes to midnight, is not recommended. But it will be attempted.
Choose your difficulty
Every new year game runs at three levels — easy, medium and hard — switched inside the game at any time. Start easy for little ones, or jump to hard if you fancy the challenge.
