About the Trains Memory Game

Steam trains, bullet trains, trams and metros — all aboard the memory express. Perfect for the rail-obsessed small person in your life.

What's in the Trains deck

The full deck, so you know exactly what you're up against — 12 cards, 6 pairs: 🚂 Steam Train🚆 Train🚇 Metro🚄 Bullet Train🚊 Tram🚝 Monorail🚟 Suspension🚞 Mountain Train🛤️ Tracks🚉 Station🎫 Ticket⏰ Clock

Study tip: link the first three — steam train, train and metro — into one ridiculous mental picture. Absurd images stick; lists don't. Then do the same for the next three, and the board will memorise itself.

How to memorise a vehicle board

Build a traffic story. Line the vehicles up as if in a jam and give each a reason to be there — the fire engine first because of the smoke, the bus behind it because everyone stopped to watch. A one-sentence chain that links every card in order survives the memory test far better than twelve separate glances.

Sort by where they operate: sky, road, track, water, sand. Vehicles are a naturally classifiable deck, and classification is half of recall — when the ambulance goes missing, "emergency vehicles, road" is a much smaller haystack than the whole board.

Fun Facts About Trains

  • The world's fastest passenger train is the Shanghai Maglev at 460 km/h.
  • The London Underground is the oldest metro system in the world, opening in 1863.
  • Steam trains powered the industrial revolution.
  • Japan's bullet trains average under one minute of delay per year.

How to Play

Tap any card to flip it over, revealing the train image underneath. Tap a second card — if the two match, they stay face up and you keep going. If not, they flip back after a moment. Your goal is to match every pair in as few moves as possible.

Three difficulty levels are available: easy (6 pairs), medium (8 pairs) and hard (12 pairs). Switch between them any time with the difficulty buttons above the board. Start on easy if you're new, or jump straight to hard for a proper brain workout.

Vehicles deck questions

Are vehicle memory games good for kids who love cars?

They are the single easiest sell in the whole site for vehicle-mad children — the motivation is already there. Use the hard board to keep it challenging; enthusiasm usually outruns the extra pairs.

What strategy works for the big boards?

Sweep in rows like reading a page, and park each vehicle in its zone as you go. The discipline matters more on 12-pair boards than the mnemonic tricks.
