About the Firefighters Memory Game
Sirens, ladders and the bravest job on the street — the firefighter deck is a must for every small person who stops to watch the big red engine go by. Match the crew and save the day.
What's in the Firefighters deck
The full deck, so you know exactly what you're up against — 12 cards, 6 pairs: 🚒 Fire Engine👩🚒 Firefighter🧯 Extinguisher🔥 Flame🪜 Ladder⛑️ Helmet🚨 Siren💧 Water🐕 Fire Dog🏠 House🧤 Gloves📻 Radio Call
Study tip: link the first three — fire engine, firefighter and extinguisher — into one ridiculous mental picture. Absurd images stick; lists don't. Then do the same for the next three, and the board will memorise itself.
How to memorise a jobs and heroes board
Give every job its tool and every tool its scene. The firefighter has the hose, the chef has the pan, the astronaut floats past the porthole — memorise the pairing, then the pairing's location. Tools-and-people is a natural two-column list, and two-column lists are the friendliest thing a memory can hold.
Then stage the day: who do you meet first in the morning, who at lunch, who last thing at night? A walk through an ordinary day touches most of a jobs deck, and the walk gives the board an order you can replay when you are hunting the missing paramedic.
Fun Facts About Firefighters
- The first organised fire brigade was created in ancient Rome, with thousands of firefighters called Vigiles.
- Dalmatians became fire-dogs in the horse-drawn era — they ran alongside engines and guarded the horses.
- The firefighter's pole was invented in 1878 to speed up getting downstairs to the engine.
- A firefighter's full kit can weigh over 20 kilograms.
How to Play
Tap any card to flip it over, revealing the firefighter image underneath. Tap a second card — if the two match, they stay face up and you keep going. If not, they flip back after a moment. Your goal is to match every pair in as few moves as possible.
Three difficulty levels are available: easy (6 pairs), medium (8 pairs) and hard (12 pairs). Switch between them any time with the difficulty buttons above the board. Start on easy if you're new, or jump straight to hard for a proper brain workout.
Jobs & Heroes deck questions
Do these decks work for "what do you want to be" age kids?
Perfectly — it is that exact age. Naming the jobs, the tools and the workplaces turns the game into a vocabulary lesson that feels like play, and the themed boards keep the fantasy jobs in too.
What is the hard part of a jobs board?
The uniforms. Several items share a colour scheme, so colour will mislead you — memorise each figure by what they are holding or doing instead.
